On a Sunday in July 15 1979

Born from understanding

The depths of human frailties 

The heights of human capacities.

A speech came into being.

We were informed and warned,  

About all that we needed to know,

All actions we ought to take.

A clear path was laid for us.

A future befitting this nation,

Was presented to us.

We ignored that,

And the speaker.

The 39th President.

So here we are,

The way we are,

Today!
